NOKIA, SPONGE COLLABORATE TO MARKET MOBILE SOLUTIONS

By NBF News

In a deft move to enrich the mobile ecosystem, Nokia mobile devices has gone into partnership with Sponge, a digital marketing agency to market mobile solutions to commercial brands in Nigeria.

Sponge and Nokia have put together a conference tagged 'Mobilizing your brand', which attracted leading brands like Coca Cola, Etisalat, Alcatel Lucent as well as the mobile marketers Association of the United Kingdom.

Speaking at the event, Nokia's Head of Ecosystem Developer Experience (EDX) Mr. Teemu Kiijarvi disclosed that there are numerous opportunities for commercial brands operating in Nigeria to add value to the needs of their customers through customised mobile applications.

Teemu said 'with this conference, as well as other initiatives like this, we hope to support Nigerian brands and marketers in integrating mobile into the marketing mix and in engaging their target audience in an effective way through mobile'

Also speaking at the occasion, Oluyombo Pita of Sponge said Nigeria has the largest and fastest growing mobile market in Africa, with over 90 million mobile subscribers. According to him, 'This is a large pool of people, which brands should be tapping into, but are not at the moment, primarily due to the lack of understanding of how to use this channel effectively, and certain myths that have developed around mobile marketing in recent years'.

Sponge, in association with Nokia, aims to provide brands with the tools with which to recognise a growing target market, and show them the possibilities mobile can offer them.

Mr. Pitan said Sponge felt fulfilled in being able to bring best minds together from within and outside Nigeria to share valuable insight, learnings and benefits of usage of mobile phones to achieve commercial and brand objectives.
