SAN FRANCISCO, November 29, (THEWILL) - Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has approved the implementation of the new national minimum wage for civil servants in the State, a statement Tuesday said.


A circular letter issued from the office of the Head of Service and signed by Mrs A. P. Umukoro, indicated that the implementation of the new minimum wage will take effect from March 23, 2011.


According to the circular letter, the new minimum wage affects all civil servants from Grade Level 01 to Grade Level 17, with least paid worker getting N18, 900.


“Recall that Uduaghan has consistently assured the State workers that his administration will implement the new minimum wage because the National Assembly has passed it into law.


“With this implementation, the Governor has demonstrated his avowed interest in the welfare of workers in the State,” the statement from the governor’s office in Asaba added.
