In furtherance to becoming more relevant in the IT sector in Africa, especially Nigeria, Samsung Electronics last week collaborated with Technology Distribution (TD), at the later's corporate office in Lagos.

According to the Managing Director, Mrs.Chioma Ekeh, while endorsing the partnership noted that striking a partnership, was a logical and practical step for any business, especially if growth was on the objective list.

Although represented by TD, Executive Director, Marketing, Mrs. Chioma Chime, she explained that there were key factors TD cannot compromise in the pursuit of the right partner.

'In our deliberations with Samsung, we asked the fundamental questions: Does Samsung meet the partnership needs of TD in relation to the servicing of our customer base? Does Samsung possess the right technology, marketing and personality to consolidate and increase that customer base?

'Is the timing of this alliance right in the interest of our most treasured resellers whose success is closely linked to our growth?

' The global economic recession has robbed the corporate world of revenue and profitability, IT being no exception. But as we watch the stagnant and negative growth in the IT markets of the mature western world, we experience with delight the growth and huge IT growth potentials of Africa. The continent remains rich in mineral resources and in dire need for the technological tools for self actualization. This is the right continent to turn to under the present circumstances. Nigeria is a strategic center in the new marketing plan because of her size and population. We dare say it is just natural that Samsung should desire to gain respectable market shares in Nigeria and the West African sub-region'.

She also hinted that TD has the additional supporting evidence of the proximity to the visionary Leo Stan Ekeh, Group Chairman, popularly acclaimed as the articulator of the roadmap for the Nigerian ICT market. While reitering that Samsung's goal was to bring the right products and services to a wide range of customers across all business segments throughout the region. 'Samsung has built its business on giving customers personal choice and then delivering high-quality products and service at a compelling price. Samsung's warranty support will delight our customers and provide the assurance of a worthwhile IT spend'.

IT Director,Samsung Electronics West Africa (SEWA),Mrs.Chioma Iwuchukwu Nweke also pointed out that the selection of TD as a partner was deliberate especially because it has spread its tentacles across Africa and stressing that the partnership was forever.Adding that Samsung's was the fastest growing IT company in the world and several corporate social responsibility(CSR) initiatives that are meant to add value to citizens and their customers were on going in the country as well as Africa .
