OKPALA READY TO SERVE

Former Green Eagles centre back, Sylvanus Okpala has expressed joy over the news that he had been selected by new Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi as one of his assistants.

Speaking in a telephone chat with Sports Vanguard Monday, former the no-nonsense Rangers International defender could not confirm the veracity of reports linking him with the job, saying, 'I just heard it the same way you heard it. I have been receiving phone calls on that since morning. Right now, I cannot make any categorical statement until I meet with Keshi and the chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation technical committee, Barrister Chris Green.'

Okpala, however expressed joy and readiness to serve. 'If the story is true, I will tell you right away that I will be happy to serve my fatherland. It is a national call that one cannot turn down. Let me meet with them first,' Okpala concluded.
