SAN FRANCISCO, November 04, (THEWILL) – Nigerian actor and comic, Babatunde Omidina popularly known as Baba Suwe is a free man after more than three weeks in the custody of Nigerian drug-fighting police, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

After 19 bowel movements with no trace of drugs allegedly ingested by the comic, Justice Yetunde Idowu ordered his release at a hearing Friday, having earlier set a conditional bail for bail which set in today. Baba Suwe was able to perfect his bail bond of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum courtesy of his lawyer, Mr. Bamidele Aturu.

The NDLEA which has suffered series of embarrassments since it detained the actor at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport just as he was about to board an Air France flight to Paris, had premised its action on an analysis of a body scanner at the airport which it said revealed foreign objects in Baba Suwe’s stomach.

Nigeria and other West African countries are popular routes for drug smugglers.

Baba Suwe had earlier sued the agency for N100 million naira, claiming unlawful detention.
