COLLABORATION'LL DRIVE ICT GROWTH, SAYS ONUEGBU

For the Information and Communication industry in Nigeria to move forward, stakeholders in the sector must come together to collaborate.

Mr. Onuegbu stated this at the official announcement of the 2011 Microsoft Country partner of the year award for Nigeria, which was won by Signal Alliance at the recently concluded Microsoft world partner conference held in Losangeles, USA.

With the favourable business environment in Nigeria, he said it is important for all ICT companies operating in the country to collaborate in order to grow and move the industry forward.

Despite the challenges confronting the industry, he said that Signal Alliance has always leveraged on the lots of opportunity provided by the industry to grow its business and the industry. And for this to happen, he said it was important for all the players to come together and collaborate to move this sector forward.

For the desired growth to be achieved, Onuegbu urged government to provide the right frame work and enabling environment to bring every plan to fruition.

'Government has a key role to play to make the industry grow. One of the things to do is to provide the right framework for local companies to grow.

According to him, most of the ICT companies in Nigeria lack funding to grow, which he said had made some of them become moribund. He therefore called on government to provide funding to encourage local investors.

'The general focus should be on how to make lending partner of Microsoft for the industry to grow and for the operators to continue in business and expand.

It will be recalled that Signal Alliance was honored among a global field of top Microsoft partners for demonstrating excellence in innovation and implementation of customer solutions based on Microsoft technology. The company also won the award as the best Partner for the West, East and Central Africa region.
