BUKKY WRIGHT, EFE OMOROGBE, GBENGA ADEBIJA, NKAN OTHERS LIGHT UP BLACK IMAGE STAGE WITH “WHISPERS . . . TALES OF LOVE”.
For a stage play titled “Whispers . . . tales of love” to be performed on Sunday 16th August, 2009 at the Kingsize Place at 75b, Kudirat Abiola way, Oregun, Opposite John Holt, momentum gathers, tempo rises, media hype soars, rehearsals continued unabated as celebrities like Bukky Wright, Efe Omorogbe, Gbenga Adebija etc prepares to storm the stage live and direct.
As part of the Black Image drive to drive traffic back on stage, this month's Celebrity Theatre Initiative though tagged Kingsize Theatre Café is set to unleash to the teeming fans of stage productions a scintillating display of artistic work of foremost Nollywood Diva Bukky Wright, Efe Omorogbe (MD/CEO) NOW Musik, Gbenga Adebija(MD, Ashton& Layton), Nkan Eledua, Ope Orobiyi and the Black Image crew.
“Whispers-… tales of love” is a story of love and bitterness that is characterised by a reverberating thematic thrust that pitches two conflicting families against each other. This is basically because of age long feud between the said families orchestrated by hatred built over the years from a generation to another generation. This significantly hampered the progress of the love relationship between two people who are siblings of the two families. What happened after? Was Aduke able to overcome all these challenges in her sojourn to hold on to the undying love of Ajayi? Or were they subsumed into the age long crisis that has engulfed the whole generation? These amidst others are the questions to be answered in a play that promises to be engaging and compelling.
At the rehearsals, screen diva, Bukky Wright had this to say” I am happy to be part of this initiative, I had worked with Black Image before on Ewatomi and other plays and I enjoyed going back on stage. I support this dream of bringing back consciousness and bringing back live on stage. My fans and people out there should expect the very best from Bukky Wright, because a story is better told on stage, you can't just afford to miss Whispers . . . tales of love”, the light complexioned beautiful actress averred.
On his part, Efe Omorogbe said “ I consider this more as a challenge and indeed a herculean task doing something totally different from what I have been known for all my life. I agree that there is need to further expand the frontier of the entertainment industry and re-invoking the stage theatre production is laudable and commendable” he averred.
Mr. Gbenga Adebija on his part has this to say”I was in the drama troupe in my NYSC day precisely in 1989 in Maiduguri, Borno State, Yemi Solade was the director and I also had a cameo role in the movie UNFORGETTABLE where Jim lyke, Rita Dominic, Hanks Anuku and Barsoge Tariah, so I have stint with theatre. Well, I have been making time out for rehearsals of my tight schedule because I believe in the course of Black Image to bring back theatre to the fore. I believe that true artistic excellence lies in stagecraft. Many actors honed their skills on stage and it remains the enduring test of the greatness of any artiste”.
The play which was written by Tompson Tabi and directed by Paul Uwagbai is set to be one of the monthly stage productions of Black Image. The music was anchored by Eledua Voices led by Orobiyi Ope while Nurudeen Oseni coordinated the choreography and Arit Igiebor and Tompson Tabi produced the piece.
The play is proudly supported by Zmirage Multimedia Ltd, Wright Affairs, Ashton& Layton, Now Musik, while Monster Musiq and MITV are the media partners.
