Lagos, Nigeria, October 18, 2011 – Ayodeji Richard Makun, AY has earned another global Awards nomination for his comical and crowd-pulling AY Live concerts at the annual Dery Entertainment's Annual Fund Raising Awards, DEAFA 2011.

According to the website of DEAFA 2011, AY will compete in the Comedian of the Year Category against some of UK's funniest and well celebrated comedians –Eddie Kaddi and Kojo.

AY, Eddie Kaddi, and Kojo, are comedians with knack for selling-out live comedy concerts. AY had sold out Muson Centre in Lagos in 2007; The Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotel, Abuja in 2009; the Indigo O2 Arena, London in 2010; ThisDay Dome Abuja in 2011, and the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, also in 2011. Eddie Kaddi had six sold-out solo concerts – two of those in 2009 at the IndigO2, while Kojo is called “The Fresh Prince of Hackney” because he has sold out the Hackney Empire, twice, and the Catford Theatre, in London.

“I'm excited at the nomination,” AY says, “because I see it as a celebration of divine favour which brought me from a lowly undergraduate in Delta State University to becoming the Event Manager of Nigeria's finest comedian Alibaba, to been honoured as the upcoming comedian of the Year just four years ago, to having my producing The AY Show, Staging AY Live comedy invasions across Nigeria and the UK, and now to global recognition.”

Aside from the global recognition, AY has been nominated for and won Comedian of the Year at three separate Awards in 2011 only: City People Entertainment Awards; National Youth Awards and Teens Favourite Awards. AY is also nominated for the Comedian of the Year in the forth-coming National Youth Merit Award.

DEAFA is an annual Afro-European Award Ceremony that celebrates and recognizes achievements of European and African talents. It is filmed a 1-hour documentary on the BBC, and its mission is to raise funds, yearly, for a selected Charity. The Award holds December 17, 2011 in London.
