FREIGHT FORWARDERS DIFFER ON SACKED AGENCIES FROM PORTS
BY GODWIN ORITSE
LAGOS-THE recent sack of some security agencies from the nation's seaports has pitched two freight forwarding groups, Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA, and National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, against each other.
While ANLCA commended government for its decision to get the sacked agencies out of the ports, saying that the absence of the affected agencies will reduce the cost of cargo, NAGAFF want government to reconsider its decision and recall the agencies, citing the security well- being of the country.
ANLCA's National President, Alhaji Olayiwola Shittu, told Vanguard that the sacked agencies were making desperate effort to go back to the ports because they were involved in sharp practices at the ports.
NAGAFF's Secretary-General, Mr. Increase Uche, said National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Standard Organisation of Nigeria, and National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, perform special statutory function which make them suitable for ridding the country of fake, adulterated and sub-standard goods.
