Mark, Ihedioha, Others In Switzerland For Parliamentary Conference

SENATE PRESIDENT, SENATOR DAVID MARK

ABUJA, October 17, (THEWILL) – Senate President, Senator David Mark alongside Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha are in Bern, Switzerland to attend the 125th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) holding at the BERNEXPO, Bern, Switzerland.

Mark is leading the delegation of Nigerian parliamentarians to the conference which began on October 16, 2011 and ends on October 19, 2011.


THEWILL gathered that the delegation made up of five senators and four Representatives left Abuja on Sunday in one of the Presidential aircrafts. The senators include Senator Abdulaziz Usman, Senator Ahmed Hassan Barat, Senator Helen Esuene and Senator Ehigie Edobor Uzamere. The Representatives include, Hon. Daniel Reineiju, Hon. Binta Mohammed and Hon. Shehu Bawa Garba.

Senator Mark is scheduled to address the Assembly according to a statement from his aide, Mr. Paul Mumeh. The IPU conference will focus on promoting and practicing good governance as a means of advancing peace and security, drawing lessons from the recent events in the Middle East and North Africa. It will also deliberate on security, health care for women and children amongst others.

The Conference will be preceded by the election of the President and Vice President of the 125th Assembly.
