NDDC RETIRES FORMER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has retired its former Executive Director, Finance and Administration Pastor Power Ziakede Aginighan from the service of the Commission in the rank of a Director.


A letter addressed to Pastor Aginighan dated 12th October, 2011 and signed by the Ag Managing Director/CEO of the Commision, Mrs. Osato Arenyeka stated that the effective date for Aginighan's retirement is 6thAugust, 2009 (the date he was appointed Executive Director, Finance and Administration by President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua).


Pastor Aginighan joined the public service on the 9thAugust 1982 as Accountant Grade II in the College of Education, Warri. He rose to the rank of Principal Accountant before he was appointed as Assistant Director, Finance and Accounts in the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC) in April 1993. Aginighan was absorbed into the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in January, 2001 as Assistant Director, Finance and Supply. He was promoted to the rank of Deputy Director in March, 2003 and Director on 1st March, 2009.


Pastor Aginighan was appointed Ag Executive Director, Finance and Administration by President Olusegun Obasanjo on the 28th of May 2007. Upon the dissolution of the 2nd Governing Board of the NDDC on the 12th April, 2009, President Umaru Yar'Adua appointed him Ag Managing Director/CEO on the 17th April, 2009. When the 3rdGoverning Board of the Commission was inaugurated on the 6th August, 2009, Aginighan was retained as substantive Executive Director, Finance and Administration, a position he held until the Board was dissolved by President Goodluck Jonathan on the 13th September, 2011.


In the letter of retirement, the Ag. Managing Director conveyed to Pastor Aginighan the gratitude of the Management and the entire staff of the NDDC for his 'invaluable service over the years to the Commission and the people of the Niger Delta region'


Sources close to the Presidency disclosed that Pastor Aginighan's retirement was based upon a directive from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim who supervises the NDDC on behalf of the President, Commander –in-Chief.


It should be noted that Pastor Aginighan is one of the indefatigable and relentless crusaders for the development of the Niger Delta Region. He has played a prominent role in the Niger Delta struggle, as his track record is inundated with accountability, selfless services and altruism. As a Community leader, an astute administrator and an epitome of justice, Aginighan has distinguished himself as a rare gem whose scintillating legacy will continue to resonate in the years ahead.
