GOVERNOR OF ADAMAWA STATE, ADMIRAL MURTALA NYAKO

SAN FRANCISCO, October 16, (THEWILL) – Adamawa State Governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako’s bid to return as governor in the state’s 2012 governorship election received a major boost Sunday with the endorsement of his candidature by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The state chapter of the party has set October 24, 2011 for its primary election where it would nominate a candidate to fly its flag in the January 14, 2011, governorship race.

“We in Adamawa PDP have unanimously endorsed Governor Murtala Nyako as our candidate for the January 2011 governorship election,” state party Chairman, Alhaji Mijiyawa Kugama said weekend in state capital Yola, when the governor submitted his letter of intent to contest and nomination forms.

Kugama however noted that other candidates were free to contest in the party’s primary if they so wished, adding that a neutral and independent panel from the party’s headquarters in Abuja would conduct the primary.

Justifying the party’s endorsement, the party Chairman said Nyako had delivered exceptional governance to residents of state in the last four years adding that giving him another four years would further help in the transformation of the state.

While thanking the party for the endorsement, Nyako said a second tenure would enable him complete the economic and infrastructural transformation of the state, which he said his administration started about four years ago.
