The Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke has denied reports in an Indonesian Newspaper (Jakarta Post) which said the Federal Government of Nigeria has agreed to invest $2.68 billion to fund the construction of a 300bpd refinery in Indonesia.

The Minister in a statement by Levi Ajuonuma, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said it “wishes to disassociate the Ministry, the NNPC and indeed the Federal Government from the report...”

Ajuonuma in the statement made available to Journalists Thursday, said, “The Corporation is presently on the verge of building three Greenfield Refineries in Lagos, Bayelsa and Kogi States with the country's international partners and therefore it does not make any sense to embark on any such project.

Dr. Ajuonuma maintained that the Federal Government will not be distracted from focusing on constructing and completing the three Greenfield Refinery projects it has started already.

“The Federal Government does not have any hand in this fictitious project. We want to totally and unequivocally disassociate the Government from this and we don't know where this report emanated from. The Federal Government is focused on its transformation agenda and committed to delivering on the three Greenfield Refineries on schedule,” Dr. Ajuonuma informed.

The NNPC Spokesman called on Nigerians to discountenance the report as the Federal Government will not go far away to Indonesia to build a 300 bpd refinery.
