EKITI GROUP BLAMES FAYEMI FOR DRIVERS UNION’S CLASH

By Tunji Oluwasanmi

The Ekiti Justice Group (EJG) has blamed the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for the incessant clash by drivers union in the State, saying; “the only way Fayemi can exonerate himself from the criminal act is for him to make sure that Rotimi Joseph a.ka Mentilo and his boys are made to face the full wrath of the law, since it was the Fayemi-led government that frustrated their trial over their involvement in the murder of Adeleye Awolumate on November 18, 2010.”

The group said Chairman of the State chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Rotimi Joseph a.ka Mentilo, who is behind the bloody clash is a known ally of Governor Fayemi and his boys are the ones responsible for various acts of violence acts in the State.

EJG said in a statement signed by its Director of Communications and Strategy, Comrade Gbenga Babawibe that; “If there must be peace in Ekiti State, Mentillo and his boys, who were arrested and chard to court for their alleged involved in the November 18, 2010 killing of Chief Adeleye Awolumate are made to face the full wrath of the law.”

Babawibe, who described the attack on the Private Motor Park owned by former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) by thugs sponsored by Mentillo as barbaric, animalistic and retrogressive, said; “Time has come for Fayemi to call his thugs to order.”

“From our understanding of the laws of this Country and those of Ekiti State, private individuals are not prevented from operating Transport Company, with their own private motor park, in as much as the company is duly registered to do transport business.

“Therefore, the attack on Aderiye's Motor Park is nothing but a criminal act, which is aimed at crippling the businesses of non-Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) supporters in the State.

“It is even more worrisome that the thugs choose to attack Men of God, who were at the Motor Park for the opening ceremony,” the group said.
