President Goodluck Jonathan and Elder Godsday Orubebe, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, have been charged to complement the increase in oil production by fast-tracking development in the Niger Delta region.

The people of Ogulagha Kingdom made this charge following the reported increase in oil production in Niger Delta from 750,000 bpd to 2.5m bpd due to the prevailing peace and ongoing amnesty programme in the region,.

Palace Admin Officer of the Kingdom, Chief Prefugha Karawei, told Vanguard that Ogulagha produces 75 per cent of oil in Delta State. He added that the prevailing peace in the region was not brought about by the Niger Delta Ministry or even amnesty scheme, but because the people decided to embrace peace as their son was the President.

He noted that Ogulagha people were peace-loving and law abiding, but wondered why Chief Orubebe has not sited any project in the community.
