CHOLERA CLAIMS THREE LIVES, OTHERS HOSPITALISED IN BAUCHI

Bauchi - Three people were said to have died with several others hospitalised following the outbreak of cholera in Borogo Local Government of Bauchi State .

The Medical Officer at Boto General Hospital, Dr. Adamu Sambo made this known while receiving free cholera drugs donated to the victims by a member representing Lere/Bula in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Iliyasu Zwall.

Dr. Sambo who refused to disclose the number of those hospitalised due to the disease however, said all the beds/wards in the hospital were occupied by the victims.

Sambo then called on the government, donor agencies and organisations to intervene in fighting the epidemic by donating drugs to prevent its spread to other parts of theĀ  state.

Chairman, Bauchi State Commission for Youths and Women Development, Prof. Musa Maisamari, who distributed the drugs to the victims called on the people to adopt healthy lifestyle to avoid communicable diseases, especially in the rural areas.

He charged relevant agencies including religious and traditional institutions to intensify efforts aimed at sensitizing the people on the need to imbibe good personal hygiene in their respective environments.
