By NBF News

BENIN - Organised labour in Edo State, yesterday, called off its four-day old strike action after an emergency meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC.

It will be recalled that organised labour in the state declared a six days strike over the non-inclusion of teachers, non-teaching staff, staff of the Ministry of Justice, and others in the recently approved minimum wage.

Labour leaders, in a joint statement by Mr. Emmanuel Ademokun, state NLC chairman; Mr. Joe Aligbe, TUC, and Mr. Shaka Otiode, JNC Chairman, explained that they resolved to suspend the strike action based on the appeal by well-meaning people of the state and  government's assurrance that it was commitment to the implementation of the minimum wage for all workers.
