Oni's Lawyer attacked, PA's car snatched

Counsel to Chief Segun Oni, former governor of Ekiti State at the National Judicial Council (NJC) Probe panel, Mr. Lekan Olatawura, was on Saturday attacked by unknown assailants, even as a car belonging to the Personal Assistant to the former governor, Bunmi Ojo was snatched at gunpoint.

The incidents took place between the hours of 9 pm and 10 pm on Saturday.

Ojo's black coloured Toyota Avalon Limited Edition, 2008 model, with registration number Ekiti AE 989 DEK, Engine number: 4T1BK36BX8U297291 was snatched at gun point in front of his house at about 9.30pm in front of his house.

The PA said he was accosted by six gun-wielding young men, who drove in a brown coloured Toyota Camry (pencil) car.

"They pointed gun at me and ordered me out of the car. I complied and they took the car away," Ojo said.

Ojo, who disclosed that he had already reported the incident at the Oke-Ila Police Station in Ado-Ekiti said it was only because he did not struggle with the robbers that saved his live, adding that; "They threatened to shoot me if I argue with them."

In the case of Olatawura, he was trailed from Ilawe road to Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ado-Ekiti.

He said; "When I noticed the speed at which the Camry car was trailing me, I decided to turn to an untarred road very close to a new generation Bank, but they followed me.

"Immediately I saw the car following me, I made to run out of my car but they jumped out of their own vehicle and pulled out guns. I was then asked to lie faced-down, during which they took away my car key and phone."

Olatawura, who also said the vehicle used by the assailants was a brown coloured Toyota Camry, otherwise known as Pencil said he had informed the police at Okesa Police Station, Ado-Ekiti.
