MOTOR BOY DROWNS AS TRUCK PLUNGES INTO LAGOS SEA

By NBF News

LAGOS - A trailer, yesterday, plunged into the sea at the ENL Terminal Berth 9 at the Lagos Port Complex, killing the motor boy attached to the vehicle.

The truck was from the Northern part of the country to load rice at the ENL terminal. Vanguard learnt that the motor boy, who is not a trained driver, got into the truck, started the engine but before anyone could stop him, the truck had moved and plunged into the water.

Efforts to rescue him and the truck were abortive as divers, brought in to assist pull out the truck failed due to high tide.

As press time, the divers were yet to pull out the truck from the sea, as they were waiting for the tide to calm down.

Speaking to Vanguard on the development, one of the divers, Mr Idudu Soro, said the visibility of the water was zero, adding that nothing can be achieved until the tide was low.

The management of ENL, Vanguard gathered, was making effort to reduce influx of motor boys accompanying their trucks into the terminal.
