DEFAMATION: SARAKI SLAMS N5BN SUIT ON BELGORE

Ilorin -Immediate past governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, has instituted a N5 billion defamatory suit against the gubernatorial candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the April election, Mr. Dele Belgore, SAN, over a publication in a national paper.

In a writ of summon by counsel to the former governor, Mr. Festus Keyamo,  Saraki noted that Belgore caused to be published in the said newspaper in  July 2011 an interview which it allegedly contained 'very damaging, disparaging and invidious statements concerning our clients through innuendoes and direct language.

''Consequent upon the foregoing, we have our client's instructions to demand from you N5billion, as damages for the irreparable harm your publication has inflicted on our client's image as well as that of his family.'
