According to Samar Rhymes, the development of his unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a musical family meant that he was always surrounded by different genres of music. He is keen to point out that everything he listened to in his youthful days had influenced his musical development in some way. But then he would finger Junior and Pretty, Eedris Abdulkareem and Tu Face Idibia as among his biggest influences.

Samar forayed into music while he was an undergraduate at University of Lagos where he studied Chemistry and Applied Science, and it wasn't long after he began writing his own lyrics in 1999. It took him four years to determine the direction for his music before he eventually decided to do his first recording in 2003.

Then, he began to showcase his talent in various venues across Lagos, Accra, Amsterdam, United States and South

Africa, playing at numerous gigs and making sure that his name and music were being heard by as many people as possible.

Back home, Samar performed at the Sony Erickson Campus Storm, Indomie Valentine Show; O noodles Campus Storm; Facebook magazine launch, all in Lagos. His yet untitled debut album has producers like Puffy T, Sheyman, K Solo, .J.Sleek, Woye Son, So Sick, Dr Frabz, Cap B, and Ben Jossy providing music with vocal contribution from Sheyman, Tu Face, Puffy T, Cap B from USA, Ben Jossy, One Voice, and collaboration with Sean Kingston.

Samar's debut video, Na Who You Be?, was directed by Igho and shot at a private beach in Lagos. The artiste is signed to Rhyme Squad Entertainment, a company owned by Rizzy Kelly.
