DON'T BE PARTISAN, EDO GROUP WARNS ELECTION TRIBUNAL

By NBF News

ABUJA - Edo sons and daughters resident in Abuja, under the auspices of Edo Social Cultural Group, yesterday urged President Goodluck Jonathan to prevail on the election petition tribunal sitting in the state to steer clear of partisan politics concerning cases brought before it.

Speaking yesterday, President of the group, Chief Oziegbe Omoigberale, frown on the decision of the tribunal to call on Action Congress of Nigeria and its candidate to carry out forensic tests of election materials, while also matching them with data machines within a period of four days.

According to the group, this is a clear way of frustrating the opposition.

Expressing regret at allegations of bias against the tribunal chairman in the case involving the ACN candidate in the last senatorial election in Edo Central, Herberta Okonofua and PDP candidate, Senator Odion Ugbesia, Omoigberale said 'another pertinent question begging for answer is why the tribunal fixed three days for this exercise, knowing fully well that such a period of time will not make for meaningful investigation.'
