An in-fighting and a major crack has erupted within the rank and file of the dreaded Boko Haram sect as a splinter group christened Yusufiyya Islamic Movement, YIM, described the other as criminals, impostors and people with evil motives.Yusufiyya Islamic Movement is named after Yusuf Mohammed, the late leader of Boko Haram. YIM frowned at the series of killings perpetrated by Boko Haram saying “We therefore distance our group from all the bombings targeted at civilians and other establishments and equally condemn them and pray that Allah exposes those who perpetrated them and attributed them to us.”Insisting that “people with evil motives have infiltrated our genuine struggle”, the group said in a circulated newsletter that “Ours is a clear fight for the blood of our founder Mohammed Yusuf and other leaders who were slain in cold blood by (ex-Borno governor) Ali Modu Sheriff, the former Borno State Commissioner of Police and the late (President) Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.”

The newsletter added: “The late Yar'Adua has since been seized by Allah in an answer to the sect's prayer for support against his aggression.”

Exonerating the Yusufiyya sect from other factions of Boko Haram sect, the statement reiterated: “We are concerned that some people with evil motives have infiltrated our genuine struggle with a false Holy War that is outright un-Islamic. We call this evil group to desist, failing which we shall have no option than to expose and hunt them. Finally, we have resolved to temporarily halt our fight against the assassination of our leaders in compliance with the prohibition of fighting in the holy month of Ramadan.”

“The Yusufiyya Movement has come to mean different things to different people in the last few months. This confusion and misinterpretation have made it necessary for us to come out publicly with the clear truth with regards to our concept, struggle, aim and ultimate objective.”

According to the Boko Haram faction,“The Yusufiyya Movement has come to mean different things to different people in the last few months. This confusion and misinterpretation have made it necessary for us to come out publicly with the clear truth with regards to our concept, struggle, aim and ultimate objective.”

The factional group stated that it decided to come out and dissociate itself from the series of killings because of what it described as mass sufferings of innocent people caught in the web of the cross fire between its members and the Nigerian troop.

Regretting the killing of its leader, YIM stated that it has resolved “to wage a struggle between justice and injustice, between truth and falsehood, right against wrong”, adding that ““Ours is a clear fight for the blood of our founder Mohammed Yusuf and other leaders who were slain in cold blood by (ex-Borno governor) Ali Modu Sheriff, the former Borno State Commissioner of Police and the late (President) Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.”
