KWARA GOVT CHIDES BELGORE OVER SNIDE REMARKS

By NBF News

ILORIN -The Kwara State Government has advised the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN, in the last election, Mr. Dele Belgore,SAN, to educate himself about governance in the state before making comments.

Reacting to Belgore's remarks in a newspaper interview, Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Media and Communications, Dr. Muideen Akorede, said in a statement that the ACN candidate showed  ignorance about the state he aspired to govern.

He said: 'It is on record that Kwara State pioneered groundbreaking reforms in the education sector which are today reference points for other states in Nigeria. Some of these reforms have been adopted at the federal level and by other states in Nigeria.'

'For Mr. Belgore to claim that infrastructure and basic amenities are lacking in Kwara makes it obvious that he is completely out of touch with what is currently on ground in the state.

'Four years ago, Kwarans had to trek 2,500 metres to get clean potable water. Today, we are at 1,500 metres and intend to achieve 500 metres within the next four years.'
