Be Proactive, Senator Abe urges Local Councils

The Senator representing Rivers South East in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe has urged local councils in the Country to be proactive in order to meet to the expectations of the grassroots.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Administrative block initiated by Oyigbo Local Government council of Rivers State, he noted that as the closest tier of government to the people, anything short of improving the daily lives of the rural people was unacceptable.

Senator Abe commended the Chairman for embarking on the project, which according to him would give the council a facelift and provide comfortable Office accommodation for Staff and Public Office holders in the council.

The Senator who advised that the project be completed in record time said “I am happy to see that the Chairman of Council realizes that there are great expectations where there are great investments.l always say to people if the Nigerian people will talk about dividends of democracy, we must be investors,we must put something into democracy before we demand from it".

In his remarks, the Chairman, Oyigbo Local Government Council, Hon Felix Nweke, said the project was part of his resolve to provide conducive working environment towards increasing staff efficiency and productivity.

The Senator later visited the families of late Apostle Santos Agomuo, PDP Chairman, Oyigbo Local Government Area who died on the 10th of June, 2011, where, he prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
