House of Representatives member, Mr. Victor Nwokolo, of Accord  Party, AP, Ika Federal Constituency, Delta State, yesterday, called on the Delta State Government and the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to come to the aid of his constituency, which was ravaged by flood, recently.

Major areas affected by the disaster are Agbor, in Ika South; Boji Boji Owa in Ika North-East and neighbouring villages.

No fewer than 50 houses in Agbor were said to have been affected by the flood. In Owanta area in Ika North East, the flood  wrecked similar havoc during the unprecedented rainfall.

Nwokolo said: 'This is beyond my ordinary reaction and it is needful for the state government and NEMA to intervene. I will be calling for a House resolution on this issue.'

Mr. Frank Ejime, a resident of Charles Street, Agbor, said: 'Many of us have not been able to go to work for days as we have been involved in salvaging our property from the flood. It was a disaster of unequal magnitude. A kind of tsunami for us and we are appealing to the state government to please come to our rescue.'
