APA - London (United Kingdom) A Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, renowned as one of the best actors in the United Kingdom, was Thursday decorated with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth 11, in recognition of his enviable services to humanity through drama.

Ejiofor, 34, whose chamber is already full with accolades, including this year's Theatre Awards for his role in Othello at the Donmar Warehouse in London, for which he also received a Laurence Olivier Award, is a well known theatre figure across the UK and Europe.

The British press spotted him eight years ago as the most promising newcomer for his performance in Blue/Orange.

The East London Forest Gate-based actor has also been nominated for a Golden Globe for his part in a drama about the 2004 tsunami and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance in the 2007 film American Gangster.
