…ALSO IN LAGOS

By NBF News

In Lagos, security has been beefed up. Daily Sun gathered that visitors to all the police formations in the metropolis passed through rigorous screening before they and their vehicles were allowed into the premises. At the Police Command Headquarters, Work Yard Street, Ikeja, commercial motorcycle operators were barred from plying the street.

Stern-looking anti-terrorist squad, anti-bomb unit and mobile policemen were at the two ends of the street turning back motorcycle operators. Boots of vehicles and visitors entering the headquarters were searched with security devices. Some who had no serious business to do in the place were sent back.

A senior police officer attached to the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) told Daily Sun that the squad was battle ready as it was suspecting that the next target would be Lagos.

A police source, who pleaded anonymity, said it was the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Alkali Yakubu that security should be beefed up in all the police formations under the command. All the area commands and most of the police stations in Lagos closed their big gates and only allowed people to enter through the small gate after screening.

At Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters, Onikan, the story was the same as visitors and vehicles were thoroughly searched and screened before been allowed into the premises.
