The newly-elected Deputy-Speaker of the Abom State House of Assembly and member representing Oruk-Anam Constituency, Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan has pledged the cooperation of the legislature with the executive arm of the state government to fast-track the socio-economic development of the state.

He told newsmen in Uyo, the state capital that since the well-being of the people of the state was the justification for governance, any policy that facilitated the realisation of this objective should be supported by any one who believes in the well-being of the people.

The former labour leader said categorically that as an individual, he would not mind supporting a successful and performing executive arm of government that is doing well to implement policies that advance the interests of the people as has been done by the  Akpabio administration in the past four years. He stressed that the concept of seperation of powers does not necessarily translate into mindless confrontation but necessary complementality by the relevant arms of government.

Hon Udo Kierian listed free education, provision of infrastructure and others populist programmes that have projected the state government as people-oriented.  He expressed gratitude to the people of his constituency for the unprecedented turn-out of well-wishers that hosted him to a reception at Ikot Esenam on the day of his inauguration as Deputy Speaker.
