Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa has been re-elected for a second term.

Announcing the result in Dutse , the state Returning Officer, Prof. Jibrila Amin said Lamido polled 676,307 votes to defeat his rivals. Alhaji Badaru Abubakar of ACN scored 343,177 votes while Farouq Aliyu of CPC polled 56,911 votes.

In a swift reaction, the ACN agent, Senator Ubale Shittu described the result as a lie and deceit. Also reacting to the result, the CPC agent, Alhaji Musa Sule said CPC would not sign the result. 'We are going to contest the result in the court of law because this is not the true reflection of the votes by the people,'' he said.
