Delta North Senators-Elect Okowa, Manager's Victory Well Deserved - PDP

ASABA, April 13, (THEWILL) - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that Senators-Elect, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator James Manager worked hard and earned their victories in last Saturday’s National Assembly election.

Delta State Director General of the PDP Campaign Council, Chief Paulinus Akpeki who stated this today in Asaba said the party worked hard to deliver Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and incumbent Senator James Manager of Delta North and South Senatorial Districts respectively.

Akpeki said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also declared the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly of the Democratic People Party (DPP), Chief Pius Ewherido as the winner of the Delta Central Senitorial District , but said the PDP reserves the right to contest Ewherido’s victory just as the DPP has challenged Okowas’s victory.

Akpeki who is also the Commissioner for Orientation in the state condemned the employment of card carrying members of political parties as Returning Officers in the on-going election.

He called on INEC to maintain its neutrality by appointing persons who have no political affiliations, adding that, the PDP would play the game according to the rules, devoid of violence and chaos.

He also called on law enforcement agents to maintain law and order during the elections, while he commended INEC for the efforts so far in the conduct of credible elections saying, that PDP in the state remains resolute and prepared for victory in the remaining elections.
