STEER CLEAR OF POLITICS: FAYEMI CHARGES EKITI MONARCHS

By NBF News

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, yesterday advised traditional rulers in the State to avoid politics like a plague. The governor gave the charge at the Governor's Office in Ado-Ekiti during presentation of instrument of office to the newly elected Elekole of Egbeoba Kingdom, Oba Adewumi Ajibade Fasikun in Ado-Ekiti.

The new Elekole of Egbeoba kingdom, who would soon be crowned is a chartered accountant and lawyer and presently a member of staff of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The venue of the presentation of instrument of office gave room for suspicion that the emergence of the new paramount ruler might be controversial.

Usually, instrument and staff of office are presented to monarchs, who emerged in controversial circumstances at the executive chambers to avoid crisis in their domains. In his maiden speech, the new monarch implored all contestants, who lost in the race, to embrace the outcome in good faith promising that the house would be put in order.
