ROCHAS REPORTS TO POLICE

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Imo State for April 26 polls, Owelle Rochas Okorocha yesterday made a dramatic visit at the state Police Command, Owerri.

Daily Sun gathered that Okorocha arrived the command headquarters at about 11.30am and did not leave until about 2.45pm. He was believed to have been quizzed by the new state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tambari Yabo, cautioned and allowed to go.

The APGA candidate, according to sources, denied knowledge of the attack on former president Olusegun Obasanjo during his last visit to Owerri for the grand finale of Governor Ikedi Ohakim's campaign. He reportedly claimed to have been framed up by the state government.

His Chief of Staff, Prince Eze Madumere had been held at the State Central Investigative Department (SCID) over the incident since last Thursday. Madumere, it was gathered, was expected to appear at the Chief Magistrate Court,  Owerri but police failed to bring him to the court as unconfirmed report indicated that the police had not finished preparing the charges against him.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, an assistant superintendent of police told Daily Sun that, 'I cannot  confirm to you whether Owelle Rochas Okorocha was quizzed or  invited  by the police but he had a brief discussion with the commissioner of police in his office.'

But all efforts made to reach Okorocha through his cell phone failed as his line was constantly busy. It was gathered that when the news of the alleged arrest of Okorocha by the police filtered into Owerri, the state capital, some women in their numbers trooped to the state police command protesting.
