Another Strange Fire Destroys AIT Jos
SAN FRANCISCO, April 03, (THEWILL) – A strange fire today razed the Jos, Plateau State broadcasting studios of the Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower Radio station.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fire razed the entire 9th floor office of the broadcast giant inside the Joseph Gomwalk House.
An eyewitness said the fire started at about 9.55am.
Mrs Folashade Oshodi, an employee of the company, who was on air before a fire alarm was raised, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that, “the person coming in to take over from me by 10 a.m. suddenly rushed into the studio while I was presenting a programme to tell me that the building was on fire.
“Immediately, he raised the alarm and the security guard, the engineer and myself tried to put off the fire but it soon overwhelmed us.
“At that point, we called the fire service but before they arrived, the whole floor was engulfed,” Folashade stated.
Recall that late last year, another strange fire struck the broadcasting studio of the company in Kano State.
AIT/Raypower is owned by Chief Raymond Dokpesi, campaign director of the defunct General Ibrahim Babangida campaign organisation.
