ABEOKUTA, April 02, (THEWILL) - Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Martins Okunfolami, has described the cancellation of elections into the National Assembly in the State as a disaster.

He spoke with journalists in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital today shortly after a nationwide broadcast by the INEC boss.

He said the election process in the state before its cancellation was orderly and peaceful.

“It is a disaster that Ogun State election was cancelled. We have distributed all election materials overnight. From what we know the result sheets though had landed in the country, even right now in Ogun State, we have not received them.

“I want to use this medium to apologize to the teeming population of voters in Ogun State. This apology is coming from the National Chairman.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, who cast his vote at Iporo Sodeke, Ward 10 polling unit when contacted through his Special Adviser (Communication), Chief Kayode Odunaro, said he had no reaction over the postponement.
