ABUJA, March 31, (THEWILL) - Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has advised gubernatorial candidates from Enugu North Senatorial zone of the state to respect the zoning arrangement and wait for the turn of the Nsukka zone in 2015.

The advise is coming as candidates for the April 02, 2011 National Assembly elections conclude campaigns.

He urged all candidates from Enugu North, many of whom are in other political parties to stem down for the incumbent governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime.

Ekweremadu spoke yesterday while on a whistle stop visit to traditional rulers from his Enugu West zone as part of his consultation with opinion leaders in the zone.

The Deputy Senate President who is the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Enugu West zone said the open contest for the gubernatorial slot in the state would destroy the zoning deal in the state.

Though he said, he would not run for the governorship seat in the 2015 election, Ekweremadu said he would support candidates from Agwu Federal Constituency for the seat, if his advice to Nsukka zone is discarded.

The campaign tour which took him to the traditional rulers in Aninri, Oji-River, Udi and Ezeagu local councils attracted several members of the traditional institutions including Igwe Nnodi Eze of Nze, Igwe Professor Sam Ukpabi of Ekoli-Okpanku, among others.

While drumming up support for the ruling PDP, Senator Ekweremadu urged traditional rulers to ensure peace in their domain especially during the elections which starts this weekend.

He also used the opportunity to introduce the House of Representatives candidates for Udi/Ezeagu Federal constituency, Hon. Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi and Agwu/Oji-river/Aninri federal constituency, Toby Okechukwu to the traditional rulers.
