Udoedehe, ACN Governorship Candidate rearrested after bail

The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN Governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom state, Senator Akpan Udoedehe, was granted bail by a Federal High Court, Abuja but swiftly rearrested again on what top security sources said was based on national security.

The Court decision read out by Justice Adamu Bello was based on a bail application brought before him by Udoedehe lawyers on Tuesday.

Thugs allegedly armed by Senator Udoedehe allegedly killed and burnt down propoerties in Uyo and Ikot Ekpene in what was described as "the first major political violence since the creation of the state.

Text messages allegedly sent from Udoedehe's mobile phone to more than three million recipients instructing Ibibio's to kill Anangs is being analyzed by security chiefs in Abuja.

The former Senator and former Minister for State, is alleged to have boasted to some of his old friends in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that he would cause political mayhem in the state like never before, in a bid to stop Governor Godswill Akpabio's re election.

 
Spokesman to the embattled Senator, Mr. Don Awassam told Pointblanknews.com that they have not been briefed as to the reason for the rearrest of the ACN Governorship candidate.

"We don't know why they re arrested him shortly after bail. We are still processing his bail bond and waiting for other documents. We are shocked why they have re arrested him. He is a law abiding citizen who would not cause any trouble." Awassam told Pointblanknews.com over the phone.
