The gubernatorial candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, In Delta State Barrister Obarisi Ovie Omo- Agege has unfolded a five point agenda for the state with the offer of compulsory education at all levels getting priority.

Omo Agege is contesting the gubernatorial election due for April.

The Action Congress of Nigeria gubernatorial candidate submitted that given the resources available to the state, the feat will not be a difficult one to achieve for a purposeful and focused government he is offering  Delta state on the platform of  a progressive party like the ACN.

Barrister Ovie Omo –Agege while fielding questions from journalists in Lagos at the weekend submitted that what Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan administration had done so far was not commensurate with the over #950 billion it has received from the federation account and internally generated revenue since it came on board in 2007.

Omo-Agege lamented that the Asaba International Airport project embarked upon by the government has become a conduit pipe to drain the resources of the State into private pockets, pointing out that; “the Airport cannot be completed in 10 years.”

He noted that the Airports in Gombe and Akwa-Ibom which were started at the same time with that of Asaba had since been completed and put to use.

“All Uduaghan parades is street lights and in the morning time where solar is in vogue, Uduaghan is still using diesel to power the lights because the contract for the supply of the diesel must go to someone.” the gubernatorial hopeful said adding that he is being motivated to contest the gubernatorial seat in Delta state because of his desire to eradicate the high level of poverty in the state.

Declaring that the PDP government of Emmanuel Uduaghan has failed to meet the yearnings of the people of Delta,  Omo –Agege opined that nothing stops the   government from surpassing the volume of success so far recorded by the ACN controlled Edo and Lagos states if it is a sincere government taking into account the amount of money at its disposal.

Lamenting that” the level of poverty in Delta State makes my heart bleed”, Omo Agege thus rolled out what he tagged his government's five steps to prosperity agenda for Delta State with the compulsory free education at all levels given priority.

Among the steps to prosperity as submitted by the gubernatorial candidate is the creation of enabling environment for studies and the construction of  a minimum of two model schools in each of the local government in the state.

Omo-Agege also disclosed that the development of physical infrastructure in the state would be given attention even as he mentioned that the Delta North Dam project will be completed.

Youth empowerment also has a place in the ACN gubernatorial candidate's programme with the   promise of skill acquisition schemes of all kinds like the repair of GSM among other skills that have been  identified to make the youth  become employers of labour. The scheme will be funded by his government through Micro Finance scheme.

While disclosing that farmers will be encouraged for agriculture to take its proper place in the state, Omo Agege also mentioned that if elected as the governor of Delta state, all the moribund establishments in the state including Delta Steel and Asaba Textile Mill would be resuscitated for more job oppourtunities even as he promised the construction of at least 300 housing units in each senatorial district in the State as well as Asaba the State capital.

Meanwhile, an indigenous group under the aegis of Delta United Movement has praised the Action Congress of Nigeria's gubernatorial candidate in the state, Barrister Ovie Omo-Agege  for his resilience and sincerity in his pursuit for good governance in the state.

The President of the movement, Monday Oruh in a press statement issued in Asaba , said the fact that Ovie could still muster the courage to pursue his ambition to give Deltans the befitting governance they deserve even in the face of the naked electoral robbery and intimidation he has been subjected to in the past months show clearly that he is sincere with his claim to serve.

According to Oruh, the informed in Delta are aware of the high risk Ovie is taking to salvage Deltans from the grip of slave drivers adding that the movement is solidly behind him and will do everything humanly possible under the ambit of the law to ensure that Ovie gets the privilege to serve.

Oruh mentioned further in the statement that the gubernatorial candidate has taking a right step in identifying with the right party ACN, which he said is synonymous with the change that the progressive elements in the country are clamouring for.

“You have done well by identifying with the right party under which you have launched your ambition. ACN is known to have effected changes in states where they have been given the opportunity to serve. Those who genuinely want a change have since been identifying with the party so we are not surprised that you have chosen to identify with the same party to ensure that you get a credible platform under which you can serve your people.”

Reminding Deltans that God has provided them with the opportunity through which their prayer for good governance can be answered in Ovie, Oruh said now is the time for Deltas to take their destiny into their own hands and ensure that Ovie is elected the next governor of Delta state.
