ABUJA, March 08, (THEWILL) - President of the Senate, Senator David Mark today warned the Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, to stop dragging his name into the politics of his state.

Mark, in a statement in Abuja noted that as one of the Nigeria’s national leaders irrespective of party affiliation, the stability of every state, Osun State inclusive, is paramount to him.

"I can never be a party to a plan to destabilizing any part of Nigeria be it a local government council or a state. I have demonstrated this since June 5, 2007 when it pleased God and the majority of Senators to place me on the saddle of our National Assembly as Chairman.

"Also, in my home state, Benue, I have worked assiduously to support the good works of my governor, Hon. Gabriel Suswam, as part of my efforts to grow the future generation of our leaders.

"I have also maintained an open door policy to young generation of governors like Engr. Aregbesola whom I consider as my brothers and sons. I can therefore only play a supportive role in Osun and any other state.

"I will therefore advise Aregbesola to focus on the yearning needs of the people of the state instead of dragging my name into contending issues in Osun. I do not believe that name-calling and character assassination are the yardstick by which the administration of Aregbesola would be measured," he said.
