FOLLOWING AMAECHI’S TENEMENT RATE BAIL OUT FOR ACN RIVERS STATE CAMPAIGN OFFICE, PPA ASSERTS THAT ACN LACKS THE CLOUT TO WIN ANY OF THE ELECTIVE POSITIONS UP FOR GRABS IN THE STATE!

By Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze

In the spirit of fair play and a resolve to ensure a level playing field

at the upcoming April Polls, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Rivers

State governor in his speech at the Obio Akpor leg of his campaign held on

Friday 4th of march 2011 at the College of Arts and Science Port Harcourt,

put to rest any speculation regarding his involvement in the sealing off

by court order of the premises of the ACN campaign office in the State. He

stated that the council decision to seal off the office was at the

instance of a court order for failure of the owners of the property to pay

four years outstanding tenement rate. Much to the surprise of everyone

gathered at the event, Amaechi gave a directive to the Accountant General

of the State to ensure that his February Salary be used to settle all

outstanding fees on that property. He also directed the Obio Akpor Council

to reopen the offices to enable the ACN embark on their campaign.

Much as we applaud this unprecedented albeit grand gesture by the

Governor, we would want to decry the underhand tactics by the ACN to

ferment propaganda in its claims that the Rivers State Government has set

up a systematic program to ensure that LG Chairmen in the State and other

agencies deny them the use of facilities that will facilitate its

gubernatorial campaign. The PPA Leadership wishes to state that all these

claims and counter claims by the ACN, is simply a smokescreen to divert

from the simple fact of the party's poor financial state, making it near

impossible to come close to winning even a councillor seat come April

2011.
Apart from the sorry state of the finances of the party, it is an

incontrovertible fact, that following the exit of the ersthwhile Rivers

State Leader of the AC Prince Tonye Princewill from the party, a movement

that witnessed a mass exodus of party members loyal to the Prince, the AC

became a shadow of itself. It is therefore near impossible for the Rivers

ACN to in such a short time reinvent itself into a formidable body that

can rise up to challenge the PDP structure led by the indefatigable

Governor.
Much as we try to understand the Governors need to create a level playing

ground hence his bail out of the AC campaign office, we would rather he

invested his salary in more worthy pursuits that will be of use to the

people of Rivers State rather than in a misadventure.

Finally, we wish to counsel the Leadership of ACN in Rivers State though

overwhelmed with the demands of organising and embarking upon a serious

campaign and the futility of unseating a performing Governor like Rt. Hon.

Chibuike Amaechi to concentrate on issues and how to convince the people

of Rivers State that their strategy and policy of visiting them with a new

security agenda of them sleeping with their eyes wide opened to that of

this Administration security that makes them sleep with their eyes closed

and avoid further overheating the polity with their politics of hate and

directionless.
Today whether we like it or not, acclaimed world leaders, respected

Organisations and International bodies have recognised and acknowledged

Amaechi as a renowned and respected Leader of our time. It becomes

shocking therefore that people we know their antecedents and pedigree

instead of facing the reality of campaigning and explaining to the

electorates their past unholy acts and see the possibility of being

forgiven now resort to character assassination and dishing out falsehood

against people who have taken time to map out plans and policies to take

our State to the next level.
In another development, the PPA in addition to working tirelessly for the

reelection of Gov. Amaechi, has directed all its zonal and Local

Government Structures to join forces with Hon. Magnus Abe, Hon. Chief

Dakuku Peterside, Hon. Dr. Dawari George and all PDP candidates in their

campaigns to ensure their success at the polls. This new set of leaders

are those being repositioned to give us the required representation at the

National level that will let the world know the greatness of the new

Rivers State we are building.
For avoidance of doubt, Princewill Political Associates (PPA) is a

political pressure group comprising new generation politicians covering

the length and breadth of Niger Delta region propagating and preaching the

gospel of a new type of politics devoid of acrimony, tribalism,

sectionalism and all the evils associated with unprincipled and

undemocratic values in our polity.
