GOVS, THREAT TO DEMOCRACY-EYIBOH

By NBF News

ABUJA-House of Representatives' spokesman, Eseme Eyiboh, has described state governors in Nigeria as 'democratic monarch's' who are threat to free, fair and credible elections in the country.

Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, at a briefing yesterday, said the 36 state governors must be properly watched and decisively curtailed by well-meaning Nigerians.

He lamented that the 'pseudo-democratic monarchs' had turned themselves into electoral umpires and dispensers of justice.

He decried the situation where some governors would sit in Government Houses and single-handedly decide who goes away, dissolve or suspend local governments and direct the management and control of political parties is antithetical to the attainment of a credible poll being promised by President Goodluck Jonathan and the Independent and National Electoral Commission, INEC, chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
