Liberal Democratic Party picks Shettima as Nwaokobia's Running Mate

The LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF NIGERIA, LDPN has picked Alhaji Yerima Shettima as the running mate to its Presidential candidate Dr Chris Nwaokobia Jnr. Alhaji Shettima who is the leader of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), was until this nomination the National Vice Chairman, North-East of the DEMOCRATIC FRONT FOR A PEOPLES' FEDERATION led by Prof. Wole Soyinka .

A statement by the Media Director of the NIGERIA-NOW Campaign Organisation . Ikechukwu Orji, described the duo of Nwaokobia Jnr. and Shettima as “ divinely enabled, Newbreed ticket designed to bring the much needed change to the country.”

The release noted that” Nigeria is in dire need for a strong leadership and only creative and upwardly mobile leaders with youthful vigour will be able to march the country into the future after 50 years of independence.”

According to the party “Nwaokobia Jnr is a 40year old Nigerian with great Progressive bent, passion and fervour, who brings to the table close to 22years of Progressive political thought and is the Convener of NETWORK FOR CHANGE as well as the President-General of the National Democratic Movement; And Shettima a 38year old Nigerian, a PRONACO Chieftain and Chairman AREWA YOUTHS CONSULTATIVE FORUM, AYCF are certainly the most vibrant and passionate mix set to berth the long sought dividends of democracy.”

The statement said further that “the First Republic which remains the most memorable moment of our history had youths in their 20s, 30s and early 40s at the helm of affairs. This TEAM acknowledges the challenge of the NOW and is committed to the actualisation of the promises of Jubilee and the attainment of the Nigeria of our dreams.This is a NEWBREED CHALLENGE with the requisite poise and focus needed to establish a paradigm of responsible and responsive leadership in Nigeria. “
