KANO, March 04, (THEWILL) - Thousands of supporters of Kano State gubernatorial flag bearer on the platform of the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), Alhaji Mohammed Sani Abacha on Friday evening took to the streets of Kano in wild jubilation over a court ruling that affirmed him as the CPC governorship candidate for the April poll.

The teaming supporters of CPC, who are believed to be loyal to Abacha, converged around Nasarawa GRA where both the Abacha’s residence and the campaign office are located to felicitate with him.

Youths mostly in white t-shirts branded with Abacha’s photograph and CPC logo chanted praises of the politician as they move from place to place in branded vehicles and motorbikes in acrobatic displays to the admiration of onlookers.

They also commended the court for delivering what they called “a just judgment”.

At the Abacha Campaign office located along Audu Bako Way, hundreds of party stalwarts formed themselves into groups, dancing to the rhythms of songs blaring from giant speakers mounted on vehicles.

A party stalwart who spoke to THEWILL at the premises of the Abacha campaign office, Alhaji Hassan Ibrahim said the court judgment has once again confirmed their belief that Abacha’s candidacy is an act of God.

“We are happy that the court has done the right thing. Everybody knows that it was this man that won the elections but some people went to file in another person’s name but INEC rejected that and now the court further confirmed that INEC was right,” the politician said.

Speaking during a telephone chat with THEWILL in Kano, Alhaji Mohammed Abacha expressed happiness for the court victory which he described as an act of God.

The CPC Kano State Gubernatorial Candidate thanked the people of the state for their support and prayers through out his moments of travails, adding that “whoever is patient shall triumph at the end.”
