LAGOS, Feb 27, (THEWILL) – Barely 48 hours after his release from the Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Apapa, Lagos, erstwhile National Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George has said the Presidential campaign rally of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan slated for Tuesday in Lagos would ignite a tsunami.

George, who was convicted of fraud and misappropriation of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) funds, said the only core job for the state chapter of PDP should centre on winning Lagos State in the April general elections.

“Now is the time to win the state from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). There is a job at hand for us to do and now is the time to win Lagos State with this kind of loyalty we have seen. President Goodluck Jonathan will be around on Tuesday, and we have to cause a Tsunami in Lagos so that other parties will jitter,” George said.

Chief olabode George who said he had graduated from the ‘university of life’ after his release spoke about the lessons of his conviction and imprisonment on Saturday at a church service and an elaborate reception to ‘celebrate’ his freedom.

At the service, officiating minister, Venerable Oluwatayo Aduloju, warned politicians on the need to shun greed, thuggery and violence.

Aduloju read from Proverbs 15:27. “He that is greedy of gain trouble his own house; but he that hates gifts shall live.”

He said greed for power and money “will always bring you trouble. Shun thuggery, shun violence, shun greed, Shun rigging and whatever that can cause trouble. We are in God’s presence. It is one of few things we have lost in this country. We must learn to do things right. People have said a lot of things about this Special Thanksgiving Service for Chief Olabode George. Some have said Bode cannot change. Some said Bode will bring stolen monies to the church.

“Some have said Bode will bring politicians to the church, and it will portray the church in bad light. Some of them are Bode’s party chieftains. Some of them are Bode’s family members. Some of them followed Bode to this church. But they do not like him. They are only following him to achieve their goals. They only want to use him because he has used people before. He will still use people.”
