Ahead of the next Wednesday presidential campaign rally in Ekiti State, the State Coordinator of the Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Femi Akinyemi has said that more than 300,000 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters will be in Ado-Ekiti,, the State capital for the rally.

Akinyemi, who is also the Chairman, Mobilisation Committee of the State PDP on the presidential campaign rally made this call in a release issued in Ado-Ekiti, said; “The PDP will use the presidential campaign rally to tell the whole world once again that Ekiti people are in total support of the Jonathan/Sambo ticket.”

He said; “nothing will be left undone to make the campaign rally a huge success because it is a rare opportunity having Goodluck in a State.”

He urged Local Governments and wards coordinators of the campaign council to mobilise the people in their thousands so that the whole world would see that in spite of the judicial abracadabra that awarded the State governorship to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), PDP is still the party to beat here.

“Our projection is to have a crowd of at least 300,000 people in Ado-Ekiti for the rally and I am sure with the kind of support base that we have, we will achieve that,” he said.

Speaking further, the State Coordinator said; “With the Jonathan/Sambo presidential ticket, we in the PDP have been able to tell the world that we are capable of breaking the ethnic barrier that has made Nigerians to look at themselves not as citizen of Nigeria but as Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba, Fulani, Ijaw or Itsekiri.

“We have demonstrated that at the Eagle Square, Abuja and we are going to put a stamp to it on April 9, 2011 when we must have voted overwhelmingly to elect Dr. Goodluck Janathan as our president.

“Therefore, like I have said before, the task that we have in our hands is to throw our all into the Jonathan/Sambo presidential project because it is in the interest of oneness of this country that will establish Nigeria as a nation of equal opportunity for its people. And the moment President Goodluck Jonathan is elected as President of Nigeria, we would have succeeded in telling the outside world that North, South, East and West, Nigeria is one,” Akinyemi said.
