EDO ACN LEADERS UNDEMOCRATIC, URHOHIDE ALLEGES

By NBF News

BENIN - THE crisis that erupted in the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Edo State, after its primaries, continued yesterday, when the senatorial aspirant of the party in Edo South senatorial district, Mr Mathew Urhohide, resigned his membership of the party with his supporters, citing undemocratic tendencies of the leadership of the party as reason for his action.

Urhohide contested the senatorial ticket in Edo South with the incumbent Senator in the area, Senator Ehigie Uzamere. But while addressing newsmen, yesterday, Urhohide who acknowledged that there was an effort by the Governor and other party leaders to persuade him not to leave the party, alleged that he made up his mind to leave because the leadership of the party skewed the exercise in favour of Senator Uzamere.

Asked why his friend the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Pius Odubu could not come to his rescue, Urhohide explained that 'this one was beyond him and I know he is equally pained but there was nothing he could do.'
