Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kano state, and former Governor the State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso stole the show yesterday in Kaduna at the Jonathan/Sambo, North-west Presidential campaign rally.

Kwankwaso who was also the Minister of Defence during former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration had his name rent the air intermittently, particularly by party supporters from Kano and the entire crowd in Ahmadu Bello Stadium, venue of the event.

Party supporters in Kano state pavilion occasional gave standing ovation for Kwankwaso each time the Masters of Ceremony mentioned his name

The peak of the show was when he was given the PDP flag as the standard bearer of the party for the April polls by the National Chairman of the party, Bello Haliru. The entire crowd rose up for him with Kano supporters shouting, Kwankwaso!, Kwankwaso!!, sai Kwankwasiya!!!.

Even as President Jonathan charged all members of the party in the zone to work hard to ensure the success of the party at the forthcoming general election, he was elated at the large crowd of supporters behind Kwankwaso, saying it was a good omen that the ruling party would take over Kano state in the coming polls. However, hardly had the President stepped into the podium to make his speech than the crowd, particularly the Kwankwaso supporters started walking out of the stadium, an indication that they came to the event solely for the gubernatorial hopeful.

Jonathan had earlier arrived the venue of the rally at about 2.30 pm and immediately walked round the stadium in company of his Vice, Namadi Sambo, the six governors from the zone as well as top PDP officials and supporters. Speaking further at the podium, the President admitted that North West zone was very important to the success of the party and political development of the country.
