Pneumococcal disease is the leading cause of pneumonia, the world's leading killer of children under five.

On 14 February at 10am in Nairobi, the Government of Kenya will host an event to celebrate the global roll out of pneumococcal vaccines.

These new pneumococcal vaccines have been specially tailored for the needs of children in developing countries because they cover the strains or “serotypes” of pneumococcal disease that are the most prevalent.

On Friday 11 February at 13:00 GMT (14:00 – Paris time), Gavia Alliance will webcast a briefing session by experts on pneumococcal vaccines who will also be available to answer your questions.
