South South South East Governors endorses Jonathan's candidacy

Governors of the South South and South East zones of Nigeria yesterday said that the PDP presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan remained the most credible candidate that can tackle the challenges facing the country.

The governors in a communiqué issued after a meeting in Asaba and read to the media by the Anambra state governor Dr Peter Obi, applauded the transparent manner the PDP presidential primaries were conducted in Abuja.

They commended the ”massive nationwide support” given to the President.

Below is the full text of the communiqué :
1. That we are sincerely grateful to all Nigerians for the massive nationwide support given to the President Goodluck Jonathan at the recently concluded PDP National convention.

2. We also appreciate the transparency of the electoral process leading to his emergence as presidential candidate of PDP.

3. That the president remains the most credible candidate capable of addressing the numerous challenges facing the country.

4. Both zones agreed to continue to come together to pursue areas of common interest.

 
Apart from Peter Obi, other governors who attended the meeting include Abia State governor Chief Theodore Oji, Bayelsa state governor Chief Timipre Sylva, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan of delta state and liyel Imoke of cross Rivers state, Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi and Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
