ENUGU APGA DENIES FAULTING PDP CONVENTION

By NBF News

THE All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Enugu State has dismissed reports linking it with faulting last week's national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where President Goodluck Jonathan emerged as the party's standard-bearer.

The party said it neither issued a statement condemning the convention nor did any of its officials grant interviews to the press on the outcome of the convention.

The state chairman of the party, Okechukwu Nkoloagu, while reacting to newspaper reports (not The Guardian) linking the state chapter with condemning the convention, said there was no iota of truth in the publications.

He said the party has it as a policy not to comment on the internal crisis of other political parties, stressing that its officials were neither at the convention and wondered where the comments linking it with the convention came from.

Nkoloagu's statement added: 'APGA as a political party has the policy not to comment on the internal affairs of other political parties. Moreover, the state chairman is not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and was not at the Eagle Square, Abuja, where the presidential primary took place, for him to be abreast with the facts of the process adopted for the convention and to be able to comment on it accordingly'.

Meanwhile, the Reality2011 Scandinavia has congratulated Jonathan on his victory as the presidential standard-bearer of the PDP. Chairman of Reality2011 Scandinavia, Mr. Samuel Oluware, who transmitted this message from Gothenburg, Sweden, through a telephone conversation with the international chairman of the organisation, Chief Ebenezer Isokariari, emphasised that at last, the dreams of Nigerians that a better candidate emerged at the primaries has been realised.

He praised the officials of the primaries, the delegates, the contestants and all Nigerians for proving that fair and free primaries can indeed be conducted without hitches.

Oluware, who spoke shortly after a meeting with members of the organisation in Scandinavia, added: 'Reality2011 is a mass movement of all supporters of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan's presidency. The governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, is one of the trustees. The Reality2011 Scandinavia comprises members of the organisation in the Nordic countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands'.
